Oh the pain of it all!

Friday, September 14th, 2007

I wanted to start eating healthy in the morning, and I should really emphasize wanted too. After grabbing some fruit – probably the first time I’ve actually bought real fruit in Japan I realized that it wasn’t going to work out.

I purchased three apples and two pears. The total cost you ask? About $13 or 1300 yen. They were pretty big, but nowhere near worth that much. At that price, I could have bought about three bags of apples and two bags of pears in New Zealand.

That’s not the only thing. My stomach revolted against this sudden ingestion of healthy food and I felt crap all morning – and hungry. So back to the Nutella on toast for me, until I find a cheaper place to get nice fruit.

It kind of sucks because I know I’m putting on weight (thanks to all the all you can drink places around here) but I’m way too lazy to put any additional effort (other than walking to and from school every day – about an hour) into loosing weight. The only other method is eating healthier, and healthy food is just so much more expensive than eating out, even at nice places.

Oh well. So much for staying healthy. I could always try to eat more fish. Or not.

I love tabletennis.

Ok, this is a diary entry written by one of my students. I’m wondering if this student actually worked this out all by themselves or used a translator. I’m thinking the latter. Here it is:

I Love Tabletennis

It is finally the entirety. I cancel it in a typhoon yesterday… All and time to spend on 1st. I love clube. A breakthrough safe as for the paire of me and Matuda! After all I took my ease and I ate it and thought it to love true club activities in all and time to spend! It was good that practice with all one week again because I was win!

Now I kind of understand what they are trying to say, but how in the world would you end up with a sentence structure like that? Still, its not the funniest diary I’ve marked so far. One of my favourites – “I’m a cannon, its a tennis racquet” – for a diary entry.

iPhone Fan Book in Japan? WTF?

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Its not even out in Japan and they are selling books about it. Inside covers the iPhone in detail – listing all the devices capabilities, hardware specs and so on. I’m just wondering why?

Fuji Q Highland

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Went to FujiQ Highland last week with a bunch of other A.L.Ts. It was my first time to visit a real roller coaster park. All up, there were about three large coasters; Fujiyama (Up to 80m and straight down), Don Don Pa! (Shoots you off at about 170kmh in 2 seconds – note that you will go crazy while waiting) and Eejyanaika (Great ride, weird seats and straight down views). We arrived at about 1.30pm on Friday (Three or so hour drive from Chiba) and managed to ride a decent amount of attractions. We got a two day pass (7900 yen). Riding Fujiyama at night is great, it has funky lighting. I might upload some of the shots of me on the coasters when I get a scanner. I almost lost my voice the first time I went on Fujiyama – second time around was alot less freaky and much more fun.

We finished around 8pm (the first day) and headed out to our accommodation. I would fully recommend this place to anyone that needs some place to sleep in the area. Its really new, nice showers, next to an onsen, has a wicked big tv, free Internet, nice kitchen and great people running the place. Its called K’s House Mt. Fuji (we paid 2500yen each) check out http://www.itcj.jp/hdb/419024.html for details

All in all it was a great holiday. Minus the stiff back and neck (thanks to that stupid Panic Clock and Moon Raker).

I was looking at the weather forecast today, might be in for a big typhoon (35mps winds) should be interesting tomorrow. Hope I can get home as they may stop the trains.
